This is a Super Duty vacuum booster kit for 1967 to 79 Ford F100, F150, F250 and F350 pickups with revised brackets that hold the booster up and at a slight angle, and additional flanges to block air flow from th engine compartment through the firweall opening. These brackets will result in about 1" more valve cover clearance as compared to the square version sold from 2019 to present (FB1). Note that 1979 applicaitons that had a booster with an offset eyelt from the factory do not gain any additional clearance- the brackets for those applications were already angled as required by the pedal specs.
This is a complete bolt in kit designed to work on 1967-1979 Ford trucks that gives you a later model Super Duty power brake booster and master cylinder. You will get significantly more fluid pressure and volume. That means much more powerful brakes and a firmer pedal feel. This kit installs in about an hour and requires no cutting or permanent modification. It works with your existing brake pedal.
You will need to know the original booster type your truck came with originally to get the correct brackets with this kit. Your original booster type corresponds to a unique brake pedal assembly, which corresponds to differeent variations in mounting brackets.
The master cylinder has a 1 3/8" bore. Your factory master cylinder likely has a bore of 1.00" and that woud make for surface area of .785" square inches. A bore of 1 3/8" has surface area of 1.485 square inches. This setup puts out nearly double the fluid volume and that contributes to a better pedal feel. This works great with original disc/drum brakes or modern SD axles.
This setup puts out about 1700 psi brake pressure with an ordinary amount of vacuum. That is too much for front drum brakes. When used with front drum brakes, it will cause lurching and accidental skidding. This brake booster is a whopping 11" and dual diaphragm. That's about as big as they get. Most factory 67-39 brake boosters are either a single 9", a single 11" or a dual 8". This system is strong enough to easily stop 37" tires but at the same times does not feel too powrful for 32" tires.
Even with th additional clearance resulting from the upward angle, valve cover clearance is still a consideration. This will clear all engines with origianl valve covers, and most engines with moderately tall aftaremerket covers. It will not fit the larger tall valve covers. Any tall valve covers on a 460 will likely have issues.
There are several vraiations of mounting brackets depending on your pedal assembly, which depends on your original booster type. Too see pictures and info of original booster types, see this link:
